Dr Ann Meli Attard

BChD, PG Dip AARD (UK), MClinDent FRP (Lond)

Ann Meli Attard is a dentist who believes that going to the dentist should be a calm, positive experience — one that people can even look forward to. She qualified with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Malta in 2012 and has worked in private practice ever since. In 2014, she joined the Faculty of Dental Surgery as a visiting lecturer and clinical demonstrator, teaching undergraduate dental students — a role she continues to cherish.

Ann’s commitment to learning has taken her across Europe. She earned her Master’s in Clinical Dentistry in Prosthodontics with Distinction from King’s College London in 2019, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry from the Academy of Dental Excellence in 2022. In 2024, she trained as a Basic Life Support Instructor with the Malta Resuscitation Council, adding another way to support her patients and community. That same year, she joined the faculty of the Academy of Dental Excellence, an international organisation dedicated to delivering advanced dental education worldwide.

Her passion for sharing knowledge has shaped much of her career. Ann served as CPD Officer for the Dental Association of Malta for ten years, leading the creation of Malta’s first Continuing Professional Development programme for dentists — work she later published in the European Journal of Dental Education. Since 2022, she has been a Key Opinion Leader for GC, delivering hands-on training in conservative restorative dentistry. In 2025, she was invited to speak internationally, presenting at the GC Next Generation Global Conference in Leuven, at IDS in Cologne, and the Moore Global Conference, where she joined a panel to discuss women in business.

In June 2025, Ann opened Root Dental Clinic — her vision brought to life. She created the clinic to be a safe, welcoming space where patients feel heard, cared for, and relaxed. Just as importantly, she built it to be a workplace where her team can thrive — a place that values mentorship, training, and wellbeing as much as clinical excellence.

Ann has a special interest in full mouth and aesthetic rehabilitations, tooth wear management using minimally invasive techniques, and the conservative treatment of temporomandibular joint dysfunction. But above all, she is passionate about people — her patients, her team, and the profession she loves. Her philosophy is simple: if the dental team is supported and happy, the quality of care for every patient will naturally be at its very best.
