Nina, a 10-year-old girl, tripped and fell while playing in the woods with her family. She came straight to the clinic as an emergency case. We carried out a trauma stamp to assess the damage and restored her tooth with composite after placing an appropriate dressing on the tooth, as the tooth fragment was not found at the time of the accident.

Monitoring Nina's Tooth:

Nina will be placed on a monitoring program to ensure that the nerve in her traumatised tooth remains healthy. This is important because if the nerve becomes damaged, it can lead to an infection and even cause the tooth to resorb (break down).

Treating Children After Trauma:

When treating children, it's crucial to perform procedures as quickly and painlessly as possible to give them a positive experience. This helps them develop a positive attitude towards dental health and prevents fear of the dentist. Good cooperation from the child allows for:

  • Thorough check-ups.
  • Early diagnosis of issues that can be managed before they worsen.
  • Proper treatment when required.
